The magic of Christmas came alive as we witnessed the grand Christmas tree lighting ceremony in the foyer, setting the tone for an evening filled with culinary excellence and holiday merriment. The culinary journey commenced with freshly baked bread served with sweet butter and preserves, a prelude to the gastronomic extravaganza that awaited us. Opting for an outdoor deck seat, we savored the cool breeze and indulged in an array of salads, cheeses, and breads. Highlights included the apple-flavored chicken liver pate, clarified buttered cotton chocolate candy, salmon gravlax, and a confid chicken galantine, all showcasing the chef’s creativity and expertise.
Outdoors, a chilled sushi counter added a touch of sophistication, featuring an assortment of freshly crafted sushi, from dynamite to California rolls. Santa Claus himself made occasional appearances, spreading festive cheer and surprising guests with gifts, from Christmas candles to freshly wrapped stollen.
A Feast Fit for Royalty:
The main courses, served al fresco, showcased the culinary team’s mastery. A majestic roasted turkey with veggies and roast beef took center stage, accompanied by delectable side dishes such as roasted chestnuts, mashed potatoes, sweet potato mash, vegetarian lasagne, parsnips, and assorted gravies. Each dish resonated with the traditional flavors of Christmas, transporting me back to the festive feasts of my childhood.
Dessert Extravaganza:
No Christmas celebration is complete without indulging in decadent desserts, and The Restaurant did not disappoint. The dessert spread was a visual delight, set against a backdrop of large windows offering views of passing dhows and yachts. Gingerbread houses, candy canes, and lights adorned the space, creating a magical ambiance. Standout treats included the raspberry and rose Christmas ball, the Biskella chocolate, pecan, and salted caramel log, classic coffee butter, classic vanilla buttercream log, assorted handmade chocolates, cakes, custard, and the divine Christmas stollen.
