SOYL, a new eatery located in the Dubai Design District (D3), is redefining Middle Eastern dining, blending traditional cuisine with a modern experience. More than just a restaurant, SOYL is a celebration of heritage, hospitality, and community, offering a menu that highlights the rich culinary traditions of Iranian and Lebanese cuisine, complemented by Middle Eastern classics and inspired dishes.
The SOYL Philosophy: Food as a Unifying Force
Inspired by the Middle Eastern connection to soil and soul, SOYL operates under the belief that food is more than mere sustenance; it’s a means of bringing people together. Whether guests are looking for a leisurely breakfast, an elegant afternoon tea, or a feast featuring signature grilled dishes, SOYL provides a welcoming and homey space suitable for any occasion.

The restaurant’s interior captures true Middle Eastern vibes, highlighted by an olive tree positioned in the heart of the venue. This element creates a welcoming atmosphere for meeting, dining, and enjoying the overall experience. Beyond its culinary offerings, SOYL plans to be a destination that features local artisans, the latest fashion brands, and a variety of events, making it a distinctive spot in the D3 area.
Al Fresco Dining in Dubai’s Prime Weather
Capitalizing on Dubai’s pleasant weather, we chose to dine al fresco. Our culinary experience started with a selection of cold mezze: hummus, a chunky baba ghanoush, and the SOYL Rocca salad, crafted with arugula leaves, walnuts, and avocado chunks. The warm, fluffy bread was perfect for scooping up the flavorful dips and salads. Additionally, two unique beverages were introduced: the Persian Dream, a cucumber and mint infused drink, and the Jewel of Iran, which incorporates chia seeds. These refreshing drinks not only quenched our thirst but also complemented the flavors of the mezze.
A Diverse Menu: Exploring Appetizers
Exploring Appetizers: A Diverse Range of Options
Beyond the cold mezze, SOYL’s menu boasts a diverse range of appetizers, each offering a distinct taste experience. The classic batata harra, crispy fried spicy potatoes, added a satisfying crunch to the meal. The fatteh, a layered yogurt dish with chickpeas and crispy fried pita, provided a creamy and refreshing contrast to the spicy potatoes.

For those seeking a familiar comfort food, the cheesy, thin-crust Margherita pizza proved to be a delightful surprise. This Italian classic, with its melted mozzarella cheese and fresh tomato sauce, was a pleasant addition to the menu, demonstrating SOYL’s ability to blend international flavors with Middle Eastern cuisine.
Main Courses: Savory Delights
For the main courses, we savored grilled hammour with a creamy sauce, sprinkled with sumac and accented with pomegranate and parsley. It was served alongside broccoli and carrots. Another highlight was the Persian Koobideh kebobs—minced lamb skewers served with saffron rice, raw onion, charred tomatoes, and a flavorful garlic dipping sauce. The portion sizes were ideal, ensuring each dish was satisfying and well-prepared.
Dessert: Sweet Inspirations
To conclude our meal, we indulged in a selection of desserts. These included a Basque cheesecake alongside saffron cream-filled cream puffs, accompanied by fresh Turkish coffee. The combination of these sweet treats provided a satisfying end to the meal.

In conclusion, dining at SOYL is an experience that combines the best of Middle Eastern cuisine with the pleasant weather of Dubai. With its diverse range of cold mezze, appetizers, and beverages, SOYL offers a culinary journey that is sure to delight. Whether you are a foodie, a fan of Middle Eastern cuisine, or simply looking for a unique dining experience, SOYL is a must-visit destination in Dubai Design District.
